CEFE Method

If you are going through hell, keep going.

CEFE (The Competency based Economies through Formation of Entrepreneurs) is one of the most successful methods for teaching entrepreneurship development.

It is a complete set of training instruments for entrepreneurs using active approach and methods of dynamic and experiential learning to develop and enhance managerial and personal skills and competencies among different target groups, especially in the context of income, employment and economic development.

CEFE trainings aim not only to convey information, but to further create competencies that include knowledge, attitudes, skills and habits. These trainings increase the participants' ability to make aware decisions and to take actions in complex and variable systems.

The various modules that constitute this training are based on the "Experienced learning Cycle" and contain structured discussions, market simulations, case studies, role plays and field work.

The method was developed in 1983 by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and has been used in numerous development projects around the world. About 20,000 CEFE coaches are implementing this program with different target groups. The CEFE training tools are adaptable for creating and offering training according to the needs of the clients. Accordingly, the CEFE methodology offers a variety of thematic trainings:

  • Business creation courses;
  • Management & leadership;
  • Financial management;
  • Rural development;
  • Entrepreneurial skills;
  • Project management;
  • Team building;
  • Corporate social responsibility;
  • Green economy;
  • Youth employment and many more.
